Sept 6, 2019-  VCREDIT, a leading online consumer financial service provider in China, has made a generous gift to establish the “VCREDIT Scholarship Fund for Global Talents” at NYU Shanghai. The Scholarship will support both students who excel academically and those who demonstrate financial need. The ceremony to formalize the agreement was hosted by VCREDIT during their annual Mid-Autumn Festival Gala. NYU Shanghai Chancellor Yu Lizhong and Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman signed the agreement on behalf of the university.

“One weakness NYU Shanghai faces in what we do is that it is very expensive to provide the high quality education our students receive...The VCREDIT Scholarship Fund for Global Talents will help us respond to this weakness by enabling some of the most gifted students in the world to join our school, notwithstanding financial hardships.” stated Vice Chancellor Lehman.

Chancellor Yu expressed his deep gratitude from the students perspective.  He elaborated that over the past few years students have benefited from VCREDIT employees participating in NYU Shanghai programs and activities. Through this newly established scholarship, even more students will have access to the opportunities that come with being a part of the NYU Shanghai community.

VCREDIT CEO Stephen Liu and General Manager Xue Lan both reaffirmed their continued dedication to investing in social causes. Motivated by the shared vision of accessible, globally minded higher education in China, they regard this gift not only as an opportunity for their organization to have a profound positive social impact, but also as the inception of a budding partnership between NYU Shanghai and VCREDIT.

The signing ceremony was joined by Rime Sun, Director of Development at NYU Shanghai and General-Secretary of NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation, and Danielle Liu, Deputy General Manager of VCREDIT.
