Board Members Convene for the Seventh Meeting of the Second Session of NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation Board

On August 3rd 2022 in the NYU Shanghai Lujiazui campus in room 1429 the Seventh Meeting of the Second Session of the NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation Board was convened.

This meeting was convened and presided over by Shuzhe Ding, Chairman of the Foundation Board. The main goal of this session was to elect an additional board director. Secretary-General Rime Sun introduced the new candidate for board director, Zach DU Chao, to the current members. Since 2014, Zach DU Chao has been involved in the global affairs field and is among the most active young philanthropists in modern China. His array of philanthropic interests includes child welfare, global health, arts & cultural exchange, and higher education. He has served as a Champion for Children in the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, is a member of the Advisory Board of the Philadelphia Orchestra Global Music Center, and serves as an advisor on the Business Advisory Council in Lincoln Center. In 2021, Zach joined the President’s Global Council of New York University, and was appointed as a NYU Shanghai Global Philanthropy Mentor.

While present at the meeting, Zach DU Chao was asked to leave the room during the vote of the current members. After a show of hands voted by all the participating directors, it was unanimously decided to elect Zach DU Chao as the newest director on the Second Session board of directors, and all the directors subsequently signed the resolution.

Following his confirmation as the newest board member, Zach DU Chao reflected on the unique charm that NYU possesses and the wide and profound global impact it has made, and he looks forward to growing with NYU Shanghai as the newest foundation director. Du’s experience will be a welcomed contribution to the board of directors, pushing the Foundation to embrace new opportunities and expand its impact.
