Board Members Convene for the Fourth Meeting of the Third Session of NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation Board
On the afternoon of October 16th, 2025, the Fourth Meeting of the Third Session of the NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation (the Foundation) Board was held on the NYU Shanghai New Bund Campus in S905 Board Room. The Fourth Meeting of the Third Session of the Foundation’s Board of Supervisors was convened prior to the board meeting.
The board meeting was convened and presided over by Rime Sun, Chairperson of the Foundation board. Secretary-General, Cathie Liu, presented her report to the members, outlining the recent work undertaken by the Foundation. This included a comprehensive review of the fundraising and expenses in the first eight months of 2025, a summary of fundraising activities, updates on alumni and Foundation events, and an overview of external publicity efforts. Later, Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman provided board members with updates on the university’s recent progress. Highlights included NYU Shanghai is attracting a growing number of international students. In the 2026 academic year, the number of international admits has risen significantly, as students are drawn to a university that offers world-class educational and experiential opportunities without the concerns brought by global geopolitical uncertainties.
The board members by a show of hands, voted for new resolutions on the changes of the board members, Fall 2025 significant program fund transfer, the Fall 2025 financial investment proposal, and the update of the Procedure for the Internal Management of Vouchers for Public Welfare Donations.
The Board of Supervisors meeting preceded the board meeting in S904 at NYU Shanghai. During the meeting, the three supervisors discussed key issues for the Board and recent university developments. They also exchanged views with the Foundation’s finance staff on the implementation of the Foundation’s fund value preservation and appreciation efforts, shared relevant insights and experiences with reference to investment strategies adopted by other foundations in the sector, and provided valuable suggestions on the Foundation’s work and future development directions.
The Foundation looks forward to the continued work of supporting NYU Shanghai’s activities and goals.
