HK University Students Visited NYU Shanghai
As part of their summer internship camp, over 30 students from several Hong Kong universities visited NYU Shanghai on June 20, 2016. With a campus tour and interactions with NYU Shanghai students, faculty and staff, they learned about the University’s unique characteristics and teaching philosophy. The students enjoyed exploring creative projects from the Interactive Media Arts (IMA) lab and Program on Creativity and Innovation (PCI) lab.
In addition to introducing the background and development of the IMA program, IMA Professor Clay Shirky also answered students’ questions on cultural diversity and cross-disciplinary learning.
Later, students met PCI co-founder Christian Grewell in the PCI lab, where he introduced them to the original concept of PCI and invited two NYU Shanghai students involved in this program to showcase their ongoing projects. Dylan J Crow’s research project on “Shan Zhai” technology in China, resonated well with the visiting students, and Kadallah Burrowes offered the visitors a chance to step into his virtual world with a Virtual Reality project that left them visually amazed.
The visiting students were from these participating HK universities: City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, Open University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Community College of City University, and Hang Seng Management College.
