On October 29th, 2014, we held official unveiling ceremony of the NYU Shanghai plaque in front of the campus' main entrance along Century Avenue. Spirits were high despite the rain, and the NYU Shanghai community watched as representatives of the government, NYU, ECNU, and NYU Shanghai together unveiled the violet sign, creating another landmark moment in the NYU Shanghai story. 

2014年10月29日，我们在位于世纪大道上的上海纽约大学门口举办了揭牌仪式。尽管下雨，但众人依然热情高涨，共同见证来自政府、纽约大学、华东师范大学的各方代表一起揭开那个紫色的牌匾。这是上海纽约大学历史上具有里程碑意义的一刻。

During this session, our visitors breakfasted to panoramic views of Pudong in the 15th Floor Colloquium at NYU Shanghai’s new campus, while NYU President John Sexton explained how NYU Shanghai fits into NYU’s vision of a Global Network University. Vice-Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman gave conference attendees a more local perspective on NYU Shanghai’s progress over the last two years, and Provost Joanna Waley-Cohen spoke about innovations in academics at NYU Shanghai. 

早餐会在上海纽约大学新校区位于15层可俯瞰浦东全景的报告厅中举行，各界宾客一边共用早餐，一边倾听纽约大学校长John Sexton阐释上海纽约大学如何融入到纽约大学全球体系之中。常务副校长Jeffrey Lehman为与会人士更为具体地介绍了上海纽约大学在过去两年中的发展。另外，教务长Joanna Waley-Cohen阐述了上海纽约大学在学术方面的创新之处。

East China Normal University Party Secretary Tong Shijun, Chancellor Yu Lizhong, and Vice-Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman held an in-depth discussion of NYU Shanghai’s position in China. The three education leaders discussed how NYU Shanghai contributes to higher education reform in China. All three panelists emphasized that both Chinese and Western education philosophies are essential to shaping the future of NYU Shanghai.   

华东师范大学书记童世骏、上海纽约大学校长俞立中以及常务副校长Jeffrey Lehman就上海纽约大学在中国的定位展开了深入讨论。这三位教育界领袖共同探讨了上海纽约大学是如何促进中国高等教育改革的。同时，三位研讨嘉宾强调了不论是中国教育理念还是西方教育理念对于上海纽约大学未来的发展都是至关重要的。

In this session, NYU Trustees had the opportunity to hear the perspectives of NYU Shanghai students and faculty. Speaking about their experiences in shaping the academics at NYU Shanghai were Chen Yuxin, Marianne Petit, and Wang Xiaojing. When Roxanne, Roman, and Tracy talked their experiences at NYU Shanghai, everyone in the room could sense the true passion and attachment the sophomores had for their school, their community, and to each other.
 

在这场活动中，纽约大学董事们得以倾听上海纽约大学师生的想法。陈宇新、Marianne Petit和汪小京谈论了他们在上海纽约大学教学与学习的经历。当Roxanne、Roman和Tracy谈及他们在上海纽约大学所经历的一切时，在场的每一个人都能真切地感受到这几位大二学生对于学校、社团以及彼此之间真挚的感情。

The day's events finished off with a celebration gala dinner at the Shanghai Urban Planning Museum. NYU Shanghai students and professors mingled with our visitors from New York, in a lavishly decorated room lit with NYU violet. The evening's entertainment was provided by NYU Shanghai students, and included a song, Kunqu Opera, and a piano performance. Following the dinner, attendees watched as the new NYU Shanghai Pudong campus building was lit up in violet on the Urban Planning Museum's scale model of Shanghai. 

这一天的活动在上海城市规划展示馆举办的庆祝晚宴中结束。上海纽约大学的师生们与来自纽约的客人们相聚一堂，在点亮着代表纽约大学的紫罗兰色的豪华宴会厅中共享晚宴。上海纽约大学的学生们上演了精彩的演出节目，包括歌曲演唱、昆曲表演及钢琴演奏。晚宴过后，众人一同观看了亮灯仪式，上海纽约大学浦东新校区大楼在上海城市模型群中闪耀起紫色的光芒。

On October 31st, 140 NYU alumni and guests from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and beyond attended an open house at NYU Shanghai to celebrate the founding of the new campus. John Sexton, President of NYU and Jeffrey Lehman, Vice-chancellor of NYU Shanghai hosted the reception. During this meeting of NYU alumni in Asia, the alumni learned more about the curriculum at NYU Shanghai, and how current students are adjusting to their studies. Student leaders also took alumni on a tour of the new building. The alumni departed with a deeply positive impression of the new campus building, and enjoyed their time with faculty and students at NYU Shanghai. 

10月31日，140名来自中国大陆、香港、台湾等地的纽约大学校友和嘉宾参加了上海纽约大学开放日招待会，共同庆祝新校园的落成。纽约大学校长John Sexton和上海纽约大学常务副校长Jeffrey Lehman主持了招待会。在这次亚洲校友的盛大聚会上，校友们了解了上海纽约大学的学科设置，学生学习生活等方面的情况，并在学生代表的带领下参观了校园。校友们对新校区的设施印象深刻，与学生教师进行了愉快的交流。

For NYU Shanghai, October 29th was a red letter day for another reason. After three years of tireless effort, the NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation was officially established with an unveiling performed by the Foundation's Chairman - Liu Yungeng, and its Executive Director - Teng Yilong. The Foundation's fundraising activities will help provide student aid and scholarships, as well as support academics and research at NYU Shanghai. 

10月29日对于上海纽约大学来说意义重大，这里还有另外一个原因。经过三年不懈的努力，上海纽约大学教育发展基金会终于正式成立，基金会主席刘云耕及基金会理事长滕一龙为其揭牌。基金会致力于向社会各界筹资，为学生提供助学金及奖学金，以及为学校科研经费提供资助。

Following the unveiling ceremony, an inaugural Foundation board meeting was held at NYU Shanghai. Topics covered at the meeting included a report on the Foundation's progress to date, its planned projects, and an overview of the Foundation budget. After the board meeting, the Foundation's establishment was announced to the public in a well-attended press conference.

揭牌仪式之后，首次基金会董事会会议在上海纽约大学召开。会议讨论的内容包括当下基金会的进展报告、计划项目以及基金会预算。董事会会议之后，在座无虚席的新闻发布会上正式对外宣布了基金会成立。
