Dear NYU Shanghai Parents,

 

在感恩节来临之际，上海纽约大学教育发展基金会诚挚地感谢您长期以来对学校的关注与支持。

As we celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude. 

 

2018年9月开始的新学期，为我们带来了很多振奋人心的好消息。上海纽约大学全职教授增长到了178名（2014年为102名）；入学的新生数量达到了455名，是学校自成立以来最多的一届；与斯特恩商学院联合硕士项目开始招生；曾任教过的罗默教授获2018年诺贝尔经济学奖；计算机教授张峥被任命为亚马逊AWS在上海成立的人工智能研究院首任院长。

 Our freshman class is the largest enrollment to date, with 455 students who joined us on campus this fall. This growth has spurred the need for us to increase the number of faculty, which has also grown from 102 to 178 since our campus opened in 2014. NYUSH is excited to launch joint master programs with NYU Stern School of Business and recruitment is in full swing. Computer Science Professor Zhang Zheng’s innovate thinking has led to his appointment as Director of Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) newly-opened Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Lab. And last but certainly not least, campus was abuzz with the news that Paul Romer, one of the founding faculty members, was named the 2018 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences.

 

学校的发展与家长、校友、员工及社会友人的慷慨捐赠与支持紧密相关。来自新疆克拉玛依的19届学生朱钧涵同学，分享了对捐赠人的诚挚感谢。

All of this would not have been possible without the generous support from our parents, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends from the NYU Shanghai community. Junhan Zhu (Class of 2019) put it best the impact that donors make on our students:

我从心底对您表示感谢。您可能不知道，我出生在一个非常偏远的小地方，从未想过能够离开那里，更别提去大城市了。然而，上海纽约大学为我打开了一片新天地，我不但来到了繁华的上海，甚至跨越重洋去了纽约。感谢您让我，以及像我一样的学生们看到了这个世界的广阔和精彩。   

I truly want to say thank you. You may not know, I grew up in a remote town of China, and never thought of going out even to the big cities. Now, I got the unique opportunity to study not just in Shanghai, but also in New York. The world is full of diversity, thank you so much for making it available for students like me.

基金会特别感谢在过去几年中参与捐赠的各位家长，在教学楼二层的楼梯处，陈列了“BOX”电子互动影像屏幕，播放所有捐赠者的名字，及我们的学生录制的各种感谢捐赠者的小视频。如果您来访，诚挚地欢迎您到BOX参观。

If you happen to find yourself in the Academic Building, please feel free to seek out “The Box”—an interactive donor recognition video wall and exhibit, located on the mezzanine between the first and second floors. The students take time to share their appreciation to all of our donors who make their educational experience a reality.
