NYU Shanghai Launches Student Gift Design Competition

NYU Shanghai's picture

The NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation is excited to announce a product design competition open to all NYU Shanghai students. Participants have the opportunity to create an original gift design to be produced and presented to major donors and supporters of the University. A perfect way to contribute to the success of NYU Shanghai, this product will help the University show appreciation to its supporters with a one-of-a-kind gift.

In addition to bragging rights and an announcement on the NYU Shanghai website and newsletter, the grand prize winner will receive a GoPro camera. The judging panel features Hahn Fine Art founder Sabrina Hahn, Wenchao Liu of Shanghai's Long Museum, NYU Shanghai Director of Interactive Media Arts Marianne Petit, and NYU Shanghai Director of Development Rime Sun.

The competition, which has already launched, will remain open until February 27, 2015. To enter, students can sign up here and send their designs to Fei Wu at yw32@nyu.edu. Winning designs will be announced by March 6.

Interested students should follow the below guidelines for their design entries:

Appropriate: Gifts should be suited for the intended recipient, which include community leaders, entrepreneurs, and leading academic members.

Easy To Produce: Design should be simple enough for a local factory to produce.

Compact: As these gifts will travel many miles and be carried inside luggage before reaching their intended recipients, it's crucial to keep the product small-scale.

Detailed instructions on what to include with each design entry can be found here.
